How to Start Freelancing

Each day, there are more and more people who are shifting to freelancing career. Before, it is usually frowned upon because of lack of security and tenure but today, the environment is different. More and more people are accepting the idea of living a great life as a freelancer.

But why not? Freelancing can actually open doors for you. It will allow you to explore different things that you have always wanted to do. It will give you the flexibility to go to places that you’ve never been to, learn new skills, or just spend time with the people that you love.

Here we have listed how you can shift to a freelance career.

Choose a Niche

The most important part is to have skills that are needed by other businesses so you can work online. Most of these skills are easy to learn. There are a lot of tutorials and courses that can help you gain valuable skills that you might need to learn. However, it also takes a long time to develop expertise so you will really have to give yourself time to learn these skills.

Apply for Jobs First Before Traveling

This is very important as the travelling will require some funds and money. You need to be sure that you have a source of income that can finance your expenses. It would be better to apply first to some jobs before quitting your own so you have a fallback. This money will allow you to be flexible with your location and can also finance your other activities.

Live a Frugal Life

This is the common challenge of freelancers. Most people are living the life by spending a lot of money to live extravagantly. But the thing is, you need to save up first and to ensure that you have enough savings when bad things happen. Since you are working freelance, you are basically on a no-work no-pay situation. So you need enough money in your account that can finance your expenses when you get sick or get in a situation where you cannot work.

To answer your question, you definitely need a laptop that can handle all the activities that you think you will be doing. Macbooks are great for multimedia that’s why a lot of people are using them. It’s a bit expensive though, and there are many alternatives that won’t cost as much.

I love being a freelancer! I have all the time in the world to do things that actually matter to me. I can spend time with my family and kids that I couldn’t do when I was still working in the office. And to top it all, there’s no office drama so my life is really peaceful!

I have a question, what gadgets do I need to buy in order to start freelancing? I am thinking of getting a macbook pro so I can also do some graphic design and video editing which are some of my skills. Please answer me!
